Serge Gnabry is in a bit of an awkward spot right now. The experienced German winger has won it all at Bayern Munich since arriving in 2017 and played a big role in the Bavarians’ incredible sextuple triumph in 2020. However, the result of said triumph saw Gnabry rewarded with a bumper new contract that he is struggling to justify. Now heading into the last year of this contract, rumors of Bayern looking to sell Gnabry have been nonstop. Indeed, while it is not unusual anymore that Bayern have let
Gnabry’s contract run to less than 12 months, it is unusual that there have been no extension talks.
Yet Gnabry confirms there have not been any and confirms his future is ‘open’, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, saying: “There haven’t been any [contract] talks yet, so I’m not thinking about that. I didn’t see myself as a candidate for sale. No one told me to pack my stuff.”
“I feel very comfortable in Munich, I love the club, my teammates, and the people,” Gnabry elaborated afterwards on his future, as captured by @iMiaSanMia again. “Nevertheless, you only have a certain amount of time left [in the career] – so it’s legitimate to think about it.”
And think about it he may have to as the expiration of his contract draws nearer. After seeing Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman leave the club in the 2025 summer transfer window, could Gnabry be next in 2026?
