TNA’s next major event is Slammiversary on June 28 from Boston, Massachusetts. Several matches have been announced but no wrestlers yet.
The news started with the return of Ultimate X. Next came a ladder match. And the latest is that all championships will be defended. None of the announcements revealed any contestants in the matches.
The current championship roll call includes:
- TNA World Championship: Mike Santana
- Knockouts Championship: Lei Ying Lee
- X-Division Championship: Cedric Alexander
- TNA International Championship: Mustafa Ali
- TNA World Tag Team Championship: Bryan Myers & Bear Bronson
- Knockouts Tag Team Championship: Heather & M by Elegance
It is not a sure thing that those champions will still be holding gold when Slammiversary rolls around. There have been two title changes recently on Impact. Lei Ying Lee won the Knockouts strap from NXT’s Arianna Grace, and Cedric Alexander dethroned Leon Slater before he could break the record for longest reigning X-Division champion.
A few title bouts are already booked for TV. Mike Santana defends the world championship against Steve Maclin this week on Impact, and Eric Young lies in waiting as #1 contender. On top of that, Nic Nemeth still has the Call Your Shot trophy to cash in.
Also this week on Impact, Mustafa Ali’s international championship open challenge continues. Chazz “Starboy” Hall answers the call from the WWE developmental brands NXT and Evolve.
Even though we don’t know who will be in these PPV matches yet, the card is looking interesting enough on paper.
