With the first international break among us, let’s check-in on the Mexican internationals and how they have done in the first part of their seasons!
MLS
Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano – LA Galaxy
So far in eight matches with the Galaxy, Lozano has scored one goal and recorded one assist. The last four games he has played a full 90.
Hector Herrera – Houston Dynamo
The beginning of the season was not looking good for the player as he was seeing
little time on the field. Now, Herrera is playing 75 minutes plus over the last few games.
Eredivisie
Mateo Chavez – AZ Alkmaar
The youngster has had a great start to the season. He has become a staple in the backline where he has started every game so far. He has scored one goal and assisted three times.
Stephano Carrillo – Youth Division – Feyenoord
The youngster has had a difficult time with Feyenoord as he has yet to make his way back with the first team. He currently plays with the U21’s where he sees little playing time.
Premier League
Julian Araujo – AFC Bournemouth
Still recovering from surgery but he should be making his way back soon.
EFL Championship
Raul Jimenez – Wolverhampton Wanderers
Was having a bright start to the season after nine games but then he injured his left knee. There is no official update about his injury but Jimenez was seen walking on crutches with a knee brace.
Edson Alvarez – West Ham United
Has only played one game all season long and that was an FA Cup appearance. At first it was due to the player attempting to leave but unable to finalize any deal with other clubs. Right now he is dealing with off-the-field issues which is why he isn’t playing.
LaLiga
Alvaro Fidalgo – Real Betis
Over the course of eight games Fidalgo has only played 60 minutes. He went from finding a spot in the starting XI last season to now rarely leaving the bench.
Obed Vargas – Atlético de Madrid
It has been a rough start to the season for the youngster who has yet to debut in the new season. Out of seven games, he has only been called-up for three of them where he did not see a single minute of play.
Serie A
Johan Vasquez – Genoa
While the centre-back has had a great start to the season his team has not. Currently Genoa sits in 19th place after five games.
Russian Premier League
Luis Chavez – Dynamo Moscow
At the beginning of the season it was rumored that Chavez was going to be heading back to Mexico but now it seems he will stay in Russia. He went from ending the past season with little minutes to now playing consistent playing time.
Cesar Montes – Lokomotiv Moscow
It has been a very rough start for the defender who has only played three games out of 12 for Lokomotiv. So far Monte’s has played 210 minutes.
Super Liga
Rodrigo Huescas – FC Copenhagen
The youngster should be making his return to the pitch after recovering from an ACL injury. If everything goes well Huescas will return to the field in early October.
Saudi Pro League
Julian Quiñones – Al Qadsiah FC
The striker has continued his hot form in the new season having already scored four goals in nine games. Unfortunately he had to be subbed off in the last game due to injury. No official update has been given about his condition.
Super League Greece
Armando ‘Hormiga’ Gonzalez – Olympiacos
The youngster recently made his move abroad and so far he has had a spectacular start with four goals in seven games. It will be interesting how things go after the international break seeing as the coach that brought him over was recently fired and a new coach has been named.
Croatian Football League
Armando León – Osijek
In his first season in Croatia, León is off to a great start with five goals in eight games. Out of those eight, he has started seven of them.
Primeira League
Santiago Gimenez – Porto
After his move to Porto it looks like the youngster might regain his momentum. He has played four games and has already netted his first goal. This might just be what the player needed to get back to his old form.
Patricio Salas – Famalicão
So far the youngster has only played in one game since his arrival. Hopefully the youngster starts seeing consistent minutes soon.
Cypriot First Division
Antonio Portales – Omonia 29M
Portales has played every match so far this season.
Super League Greece
Jordan Silva – Asteras Tripolis
Has become an important piece for the team as he has started six out of seven games for Asteras.
