Cody White has become somewhat ofa folk hero in these parts.
And now he is a full-fledged member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
In an expected move, the Raiders announced Tuesday that they have promoted White from the practice squad to a spot on the 53-man roster. To make room for White, second-year wide receiver Jack Bech was placed on the injured reserve. Bech broke his forearm. He must miss, at least, four games, but such injuries could extend beyond that timeframe.
White was signed to the practice after
he was cut by the Seattle Seahawks just before the season started. He was with with Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak last season. White was elevated for the first three games, which is the limited for practice squad players. So, this move was coming.
White has three catches this season —- all for touchdowns. He has also be a playmaker on special teams.
Bech, a second-round pick last season, has five catches for 48 yards this season. This season is big for his development, so this injury is a setback for the young receiver.
Also Tuesday, the Raiders signed veteran receiver Philip Dorsett to the practice squad and released receiver Justin Shorter. Monday, they added receiver Tyler Scott to the practice squad. Dorsett was with the Raiders in training camp.
