The Los Angeles Chargers are going into the 2026 season with something to prove.
After being eliminated as a Wild Card in each of the last two years, the Chargers are hoping to get over the hump this season with a new offense engineered by offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. With some tweaks and a healthier offensive line, along with a new defensive coordinator in Chris O’Leary, the Chargers have a recipe for success for the upcoming season.
ESPN writer Liz Loza believes the Chargers should be better
in 2026 than they were in 2025.
“After starting last season with three straight wins, injuries to the offensive line ultimately upended the Bolts’ 2025 campaign. This time around, the bolstered offensive line is back to health. The addition of coordinator Mike McDaniel should lift the run game and provide offensive balance. With a fresh slate, the Chargers are in a position to at least match last year’s 11-win total,” Loza wrote.
The fresh perspective could do wonders for the Chargers, who are hoping to unseat the Denver Broncos as AFC West champions. It won’t be easy, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs also looking to return to the postseason following a gap year on the couch for January and February, but the Chargers have a chance to wedge right in there and make their rivals sweat.
A 12-win season could do it, but given how the Broncos won 14 games last year, the Chargers might have to be flawless if they want to be division champs this season.
BFTB community, what will it take for the Chargers to get to 12 wins? Will that be enough to win the AFC West? Chime off in the comments section below.
