Both Bayern Munich and Galatasaray have confirmed that defender Sacha Boey will spend the remainder of this season on loan at the Turkish Süper Lig club with a non-mandatory buy-on clause attached to the loan deal following the conclusion of this season.
Boey makes a return to the club that Bayern purchased his from back in January of 2024 back when Thomas Tuchel was still manager of the club. At that time, Bayern was going through a bit of an injury crisis and Tuchel had to bring in defensive reinforcements
to try to better the club’s form and Boey was identified as being a potential solution, though his tenure at Bayern thus far has not exactly been covered in glory. Before joining the German Rekordmeister, the French defender spent two and a half years at Galatasaray, having made a total of 63 appearances; the highestappearances tally of any club he’s played for his professional career.
Per an official statement from Galatasaray’s X page, Boey has officially joined the club on loan for the remainder of the season with a non-mandatory buy-on clause at the end of the loan deal that would require the club’s written consent to trigger. Additionally, as a part of the loan agreement, Bayern will receive a 500,000 euro fee from Galatasaray and Boey himself will be a guaranteed net fee of €1,750,000 for the 2025/26 season. That fee is an increase on the roughly 90,800 euros he makes gross per year at Bayern.
Timing wise, Vincent Kompany is losing depth at right back, but thankfully will soon be having both Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić back from injury and available for selection. It’s been a blessing for him and the squad that Tom Bischof, a natural midfielder by trade, has done such a solid job of filling in at both right black and left back when he’s been asked to.
For Boey, a return to Galatasaray, at least for the remainder of this season, will guarantee more solid playing minutes for the defender, as he wasn’t playing too often for Kompany at Bayern. He’s only just recently returned from a gastrointestinal problem that kept him sidelined for the better part of a month, but he’ll be ready to hit the ground running in Istanbul.
