According to a report from Sport1 journalist Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), it is not a certainty that Bayern Munich will get its offer to Dayot Upamecano up to the financial level that the defender
requires:
Dayot Upamecano wants to significantly improve his financial situation. His agent had already told Bayern that early on. The situation is still unchanged from a few months ago. It’s about salary, signing-on fee, and a release clause. Upamecano’s camp points to the contracts other players (Musiala, Davies, Kimmich) received, and sees the Frenchman in a similar category as them. Bayern, on the other hand, want to continue to cut costs, that’s why the situation is currently at a standstill.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently discussed the topic of salaries and said: ‘You have to say the word ‘no’ sometimes.’
Behind the scenes, there are strong voices within the club who, out of principle, want to make a statement and simply refuse to give in to the demands. That’s why Upamecano and his camp shouldn’t be too confident that they will end up getting what they want.
BFW Commentary
This is a tough spot for Bayern Munich. Upamecano is an extremely valuable member of the team and plays a marquee position, but also might have a price tag that exceeds what the Bavarians are comfortable with.
If Bayern Munich is going to draw a line in the sand, is Upamecano the player where the club takes a stand? We might find out soon.
Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid have all been loosely linked to Upamecano in recent weeks.
Bayern Munich will host Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga match that — on paper — looks a little lopsided.
Okay, a lot lopsided.
The Bavarians are scorching hot and Werder Bremen has a slew of injuries, which makes for what could be a very tough challenge against a Bayern Munich team than can just wear down the opposition.
Let’s get into it — this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
