The Tigers closed out their final day of the SEC Indoor Championships in thrilling fashion, with a series of top-10 program records during their races on Saturday, Feb. 28, in College Station, Texas.
Women and Men’s Mile Success
Drew Rogers blew the competition away, placing first overall in the mile with a time of 4:02.42 minutes in the finals. Suzy Lecoutre placed 10th overall in the women’s mile with a time of 4:43.83 minutes.
“Their experiences that [the runners] have had in that I’ve only heard
about now, getting to see that on full displays is pretty exciting,” assistant jumps coach TJ Harris said before the SEC Indoor Championships.
Women’s 3000m Triumph
Monica Wanjiku led the Mizzou pack and had a fifth-place overall finish, clocking a blistering 8:59.03 minutes. Her performance now stands as the school’s second-best mark in the event and her new personal best.
Mirriam Chepkirui with a top-10 program record placed 25th with a time of 9:21.76 minutes. Alongside them, Kobi Walker finished in 29th with a time of 9:26.55 minutes.
Men’s 3000m Race
Rogers placed 11th overall for the Tigers, with a time of 7:57.75 minutes. Close behind him, a tightly packed Mizzou group battled as Ryder James led the charge in 25th, followed by Elijah Limo with a top-10 program record and personal best of 8:07.17 minutes in 27th.
Tyler Freiner claimed 29th and Carter Spradling placed 32nd. Rounding out the effort, Joshua Allison crossed the line in 41st with his personal best of 8:15.85 minutes and Finnian Russell placed 44th.

What’s Next
The Tigers are set to compete during the NCAA Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. They competed their earlier this season on Feb. 13-14, during the Tyson Invitational. Hopefully, with this familiarity, the Tigers will show up and show out.
Outdoor Season Rough Schedule
The outdoor season opens Friday, March 20, at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta. The two-day meet, hosted in the heart of Georgia, runs through Saturday, March 21, and marks the first test of the spring for the squad.
From there, the schedule sends the team across the country, with stops in North Carolina, Louisiana, Nebraska and Iowa, along with a trip to Kansas City. Each meet will provide a new challenge as athletes build toward the championship stretch.
The postseason begins at the SEC Outdoor Championships, set for Auburn which will be a high-stakes showdown that will bring together the conference’s top talent and set the stage for Mizzou’s run at nationals.
