The Chicago Bears have now won two straight games while leading wire to wire, which was one of those weird narratives the haters tried to drum up after last year’s Cardiac Bears took the NFL by storm. Yesterday’s win over the defending AFC champion New England Patriots also put a dent in the ‘Bears can’t beat good teams’ narrative that was floating around social media.
This team revels in proving people wrong, and that attitude comes from head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams.
Caleb’s
deep ball is bad.
Caleb takes too many sacks.
Caleb has terrible accuracy.
Caleb is a checkdown merchant. This one may have had the shortest shelf life of all, but that’s because the dopes are running out of things to cry about.
Caleb and the Bears don’t need the extra motivation to push themselves, but it can’t hurt.
On the Amazon postgame set, Williams took a playful jab at Richard Sherman, who left the Bears out of his top 5 list of best teams in the NFL. Sherman laughed and said, “You listen to the podcast!”
And Williams said, “I see it all.”
We’ve come a long way from a Bears quarterback asking to turn the TVs off at Halas Hall.
