As you know, bollards are being constructed around Wrigley Field as part of preparation for the 2027 All-Star game. They’re expected to be in place by Opening Day — whenever that is.
More details about the project and its timeline and street closures around Wrigley Field are in this article from earlier this month.
BCB’s David Sameshima happened to be in the area around the ballpark late Thursday, and I was in the area myself Friday afternoon. The photos below sum up the progress of the project as of this
weekend.
As you can see in some of the photos, the commemorative brick pavers that lined Waveland and Sheffield around Wrigley Field have been removed to make room for the construction of the bollards. I reached out to the Cubs for information about these and was told that some pavers would be returned to their original locations, but some would have to be moved because of the bollards. Anyone whose paver is moved will get an email regarding the new location.
I’ll post about this project from time to time over the offseason.
Here are the photos that David and I took Thursday and Friday (the one at the top of this post was taken Thursday). Tap or click on the images to enlarge them.
