The deadline to tender contracts to players under club control and finish finalizing 40-man rosters came and went Friday, and while we’ve covered the Tigers decisions, there were a huge number of other
players non-tendered who are now free agents looking to sign major league, or more likely minor league deals.
Right now the Tigers have a 40-man roster spot available after non-tendering Andy Ibáñez, so they could take a player in the December 10th Rule 5 draft during the Winter Meetings. They could also simply sign a player. Most of the players non-tendered are going to get minor league contracts somewhere, or possibly depart for an international or independent league elsewhere. Looking through the full list, there really isn’t anyone who looks like an obvious upgrade on the 40-man roster, other than perhaps a reliever or two who might be worth adding for depth and to try and develop.
Is there anyone you’d like to see them try and add?
