AEW is boasting a triple main event for the Forbidden Door PPV on Sunday, June 28 from San Jose, California. A 12-man steel cage match and the Owen Hart Cup finals are the feature attractions.
The updated lineup for Forbidden Door includes:
- Steel Cage Match: MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada, Jake Doyle, & Andrade El Idolo vs. Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita, & Darby Allin
- Owen Hart Cup men’s final: Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland
- Owen Hart Cup women’s final: Mercedes Moné vs. Maya World
- AEW Women’s World Championship: Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid
- AEW World Tag Team Championship: Adam Copeland & Christian Cage (c) vs. The Dogs
- AEW Continental Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Bandido
- IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship: Shota Umino (c) vs. PAC
- Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
- Young Bucks vs. Mistico & Mascara Dorada vs. Shingo Takagi & Titan
- AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship: Divine Dominion (c) vs. Thunder Rosa & Olympia (pre-show)
MJF and Mark Briscoe revealed their teams for the steel cage match. If Briscoe’s team win, then he will receive a world title shot against MJF. MJF ponied up the cash to buy the services of the Don Callis Family. Kevin Knight was the first to volunteer in exchange
for a world title shot himself, as long as MJF’s team wins. Briscoe picked his pals in the Conglomeration and two man with burning motivation for payback. Konosuke Takeshita wants a piece of Kyle Fletcher and the Callis Family in general. Allin is targeting Knight for his betrayal at Double or Nothing. MJF’s team has issues getting along, while Briscoe’s squad is focused on helping him reach for the sky.
The Owen Hart Cup tournament finals are set. Winners receive world title shots at All In in Wembley Stadium. For that reason, Will Opsreay seems like a heavy favorite to beat Swerve Strickland. How could AEW have the biggest UK star on their roster fail here at Forbidden Door? On the women’s side, Maya World is the Cinderella story with one more wicked witch to beat in Mercedes Moné.
Thekla is serious about her disrespect to Stardom. So much so that the Toxic Spider crashed the show in Japan to attack president Taro Okada again. Starlight Kid made the save to protect Stardom. The Dogs stole the five-second pose from Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, and the old men plan to teach the young pups some new tricks. Brodido beat the Death Riders in tag team action, so Bandido was feeling froggy to challenge Jon Moxley for the continental strap. Gabe Kidd attacked Shota Umino in Japan, and PAC called out the NJPW champion to come get his revenge with the IWGP global heavyweight title on the line. Zack Sabre Jr. and Kenny Omega want to challenge themselves against greatness. The Young Bucks represent AEW in the three-way tag bout versus CMLL’s Sky Team and NJPW’s Unbound Co. Thunder Rosa made new friends in CMLL, and she’s bringing Olympia to challenge Megan Bayne and Lena Kross for the tag belts.
