It started to his right, and it went to his left. Most guys are late on reverses, but I saw this guy move to his right, and he went to his left so quick.”
“So, long, athletic, smart,” Wright continued. “His football IQ is something that you all are going to love about him. Really, really smart linebacker, and really good player. I fell in love with him in the first 15 plays.”
“We’re real similar,” Wright said. “Both tall. He’s faster than I am. He’s longer. I know I’m a long guy, but he’s got these long arms. But I really love smart linebackers, guys that can see the game good. Guys that can anticipate plays is something that I love.
“And so, when I saw that from Dugger—he can bend as well. So, watch Dugger when he makes tackles. A lot of guys play high, really high. He’s a guy that can bend, sink in his hips, and find a way to still make really good plays.”

Why 49ers’ Colton McKivitz passed up millions but isn’t losing sleep over it
“McKivitz hasn’t just embraced the organization, he has fallen for the Bay Area. A native of small-town, blue-collar Ohio, he’s an avid hunter and fisherman whose favorite color might be camouflage. He spent part of the 49ers’ bye week in December hunting at a duck club, which is on brand. But he did so in Napa, and he discussed wine tastings with reporters when he returned.
Last year, he began regularly training in San Francisco during the offseason by running the city’s steep hills, and he now speaks like a local who grew up watching the 49ers play at Kezar Stadium.
“I love training in the city,” McKivitz said. “Right off Front Street, (to) Vallejo, (to) Kearny, all going to Coit Tower and running the brick staircases over there. It’s cool to train and have a city-behind-you feeling.”

“This is a different circumstance, but the Rams show time and time again they are prepared to use the nuclear option in their pursuit of championships, and they’re a bit more clever and aggressive at swinging deals.
The 49ers have proven they operate too earnestly on the belief that what they think they know is reality. They don’t play the game in the way LA is willing to.
That’s not to say they haven’t gotten the better of the Rams. The Christian McCaffrey trade was a crowning achievement in that regard.
They’ve made great moves. They got Trent Williams for pennies. Trades for the likes of Charles Omenihu and Keion White brought in cheap D-line elevators. The Osa Odighizuwa looks like it could be a sneaky outstanding piece of business.
But the one other time the 49ers did swing for the fences outside of McCaffrey, it was for Trey Lance.
There’s a different game being played by the Rams and Seahawks. As it stands, the 49ers are simultaneously under-prepared and without any recourse.
Much of that has to do with the reality that the 49ers are playing the game “the right way.” They are trying to build sustainably.
Here’s the problem. The Rams aren’t. And the Seahawks already have.
There is a not-so-hidden layer to the Rams’ vision of the future. That vision doesn’t exist. At least, not for Sean McVay.
Les Snead drafted Ty Simpson, the son of his friend. McVay couldn’t have looked any less happy, then the Rams rolled out a public relations barrage to say, “No, actually, Sean LOVES this move. You’re all idiots for thinking the guy who looks furious is actually furious. You rubes.”
McVay already considered retirement. But how can you give up on Matthew Stafford for as long as he’s still ripping?
You don’t. And McVay probably won’t. But Stafford, with his new extension, has two years left.
And ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler — perhaps the best, “here’s what’s actually going on” reporter in the game who everyone misses out on because he puts out news while the bigger news is happening — hinted at the reality that the Rams are ready to let it all burn down when it’s contract time for the rest of their young core.“
