We are heading to the fourth quarter of play at AT&T Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings now lead the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 24-23 on Sunday Night Football.
The Cowboys got the ball first coming out of the locker room at halftime, as they won the opening coin toss and chose to defer to the second half. They moved the ball down the field with very little resistance, and Dak Prescott made a very nice play that saw him escape pressure and get a pass away to Luke Schoonmaker for a big gain that put
Dallas into the red zone. But the Vikings’ defense stiffened up, and forced the Cowboys to settle for a 26-yard field goal to put them back in front, 20-17.
Minnesota then went three-and-out on their first possession of the half, with Ryan Wright pinning the Cowboys down at their 10-yard line. They then got a 30-yard pass from Prescott to CeeDee Lamb to get out of the hole and a big run by the returning Javonte Williams to move them into Minnesota territory. But, they again had to settle for a field goal, as Aubrey connected from 41 to make it a six-point game at 23-17 with just under five minutes left in the third quarter.
The Vikings then marched down into Dallas territory, and got a big fourth down conversion as J.J. McCarthy found Jalen Nailor for a big 23-yard gain into the red zone. He then hit Justin Jefferson to set up first-and-goal, and a couple of plays later it was C.J. Ham. . .yes, C.J. Ham. . .taking the ball into the end zone to give the Vikings the lead back at 24-23.
As we move to the fourth quarter of play, the Cowboys now have a 2nd-and-1 from the Minnesota 46-yard line.
