Barcelona midfielder Gavi is slowly but surely closing in on a return to action for Hansi Flick’s side after a long spell back on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.
Gavi was ruled out for five
months back in September in what was a devastating blow for player and club as it followed another long lay-off due to ACL surgery.
However, the midfielder isn’t too far away from a comeback. According to Marca, he’s expected to start training with his team-mates again in the next 7-10 days.
Barcelona will monitor him closely to see how he progresses, but he is still currently on target to return in mid-February.
Gavi spoke about his recovery at the tail end of last year, saying he was on schedule and that he’d return in great shape.
”People will be able to see the Gavi they are waiting for, I have that in my head and I have the mentality, which makes me strong to achieve it,” he told Sport. “I don’t know when I’ll come back from injury, but when I do it will be one hundred percent.”
Barcelona won’t want to take any risks with Gavi but hopefully fans won’t have to wait too much longer to wait to see him back in action.
