No. 20 Tennessee is back on the road this weekend, but it’ll be a short trip down I-40. The Vols will face the Vanderbilt Commodores, who have been struggling all season long. The Commodores are just 14-12 overall, coming off of being swept last weekend against Mississippi State.
Vanderbilt bounced back in the midweek with a 15-5 win over Tennessee Tech.
Tennessee rebounded from a gutting series loss to Georgia, taking two of three from Missouri last weekend. The Volunteers walked it off against USC
Upstate on Tuesday night.
That ugly Friday night against Missouri did spark a change from Josh Elander, however. In a bit of a surprise, Elander has pulled Tegan Kuhns from the Friday starter spot this weekend, inserting Brandon Arvidson. Kuhns is 1-2 in six starts this season, posting a 4.35 ERA. Arvidson is 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA in 15 innings pitched. Remember too, Arvidson got a late start to the season due to injury.
Landon Mack will remain the Saturday starter and Evan Blanco keeps his Sunday spot. Cam Appenzeller is another starter option that Elander could evaluate going forward.
Also, great news here — for the first time all season, all three games will be on real, live television.
