That’s more like it. This was the vision coming into the season for Kentucky basketball
The No. 9 Wildcats were in full command on both ends of the floor from start to finish Friday night in a blowout 107-59
win over the Valparaiso Beacons.
Building a lead as large as 48 points, the Wildcats overwhelmed the Beacons in all facets of the stat sheet.
Jaland Lowe, making his Wildcats’ debut, led the team with five assists vs. no turnovers and scored six points in 18 minutes. Having Lowe lead the offense proved to be a huge difference Friday night, and this is the vision for the Wildcats’ offense this season.
Six players scored in double figures for the Wildcats in an efficient night offensively. Kentucky took care of the ball, distributed it to its playmakers, converted at the free-throw line, and had a solid night from beyond the perimeter. If they play like this, they are going to win a lot of games this season and play into April.
Highlights
MVP: Collin Chandler
Chandler has a huge second season in front of him. He was outstanding Friday night, connecting on four three-pointers and scoring 14 points in 23 minutes. He also added five rebounds and four assists, along with a block, for a +/- of 25.
Chandler is becoming someone who can make a major impact and is effectively a starter moving forward, even if he comes off the bench once Jaland Lowe is inserted into the starting lineup.
