The Carolina Panthers are perhaps the least surprising home underdogs of the year against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football this week. A run of good football ran afoul of just awful preparation and individual effort against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday. That’s all it takes for folks across the league to lose all respect for a team that has done very little to earn it in recent years.

what you will. If you think you know what to expect from the Panthers after this morning’s debacle then you are a far more confident person than I. My hope is that yesterday was a result of overlooking a professional football team and assuming a win, but my fear is that injuries and insufficiencies across the board are finally catching up to a team that lucked into an easy opening schedule. If you’re prepared to bet money on what we’ve seen so far from the Panthers then good luck.
