Michigan true freshman receiver Salesi Moa has been impressing his new teammates throughout spring practice and has even received a notable comparison.
Michigan defensive back Jyaire Hill compared Moa to former Michigan standout receiver Roman Wilson.
“Salesi real nice,” Hill said. “I was just comparing yesterday to like Roman Wilson or something like that. He real nice.”
If Moa can play at the caliber of Wilson, it would mean he’s playing at a championship level. Wilson was a major catalyst during
Michigan’s national championship season in 2023. Wilson had 48 receptions for 789 yards in ‘23 with 12 touchdowns.
Moa, a four-star prospect, was ranked as the No. 42 overall player in the 2026 class in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Moa, who played at receiver and cornerback in high school, was ranked as the No. 2 athlete and No. 1 player in the state of Utah. Moa tallied 226 receptions in his high school career for 3,757 yards with 44 touchdowns.
“Perhaps the best pure pass-catcher to come out of the state since Puka Nacua in the 2019 class,” 247Sports’ Blair Angulo said. “Moa has special traits at receiver. He can high-point the football with the best of them, is a smooth route runner who can gain separation early in his routes, and is natural with all his movements, looking fluid in and out of his breaks while making tough catches look easy.”
Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham said in mid-March that Moa is “really good” and “looks sharp in the workouts.” And apparently, he’s been looking really good on the practice field as well, to be receiving comparisons to Roman Wilson.
