The Miami Dolphins are building their practice squad following yesterday’s roster cuts, but at least three of the players they cut will not be returning to Miami. Linebacker Mohamed Kamara, offensive lineman Ryan Hayes, and wide receiver Erik Ezukanma are all reported to be joining the practice squads of other teams.
Kamara, a 2024 fifth-round draft pick for Miami, is heading across the state to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to FOX Sports’ Greg Auman. Kamara appeared in five games as a rookie
for Miami last season, recording one tackle and one quarterback hit.
Hayes is moving up to Georgia, joining the Atlanta Falcons. The NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first made the report. The Dolphins drafted Hayes in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but waived him in the final roster cuts that summer. He was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts, but was waived a couple of weeks later. He then returned to the Dolphins, signing to the practice squad for the remainder of his rookie season. He was waived/injured by Miami before the 2024 season, then re-joined the team on the practice squad late in the year. He appeared in one game in 2024, playing four snaps on special teams.
Like Kamara, Ezukanma is staying in Florida, though in the receiver’s case, he is moving north up I-95 to join the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Ezukanma was a fourth-round draft choice by Miami in 2022 and has spent time on the team’s active roster, reserve/non-football injury list, and practice squad throughout his career. He has played in five games, catching one pass for three yards and rushing five times for 22 yards.
