Kentucky football’s SEC struggles continued Saturday night as the Wildcats fell 35-13 to South Carolina, marking a full calendar year since their last conference victory.
The Wildcats’ most recent SEC win
came on Sept. 28, 2024, when they defeated Ole Miss 20-17 on the road. Since then, Kentucky has dropped seven straight games to league opponents, with its last home win in Kroger Field dating back even further, with a huge 33-14 victory over Florida on Sept. 30, 2023.
Saturday’s matchup against South Carolina once again highlighted Kentucky’s inconsistency against conference competition. The Gamecocks took control early and never looked back, South Carolina controlling in all phases of the game. Kentucky struggled to finish drives and committed costly mistakes, a trend that has defined its conference play over the past two seasons.
The pressure continues to mount on Mark Stoops’ program as fans wait for signs of a turnaround in SEC action. Kentucky has shown flashes of potential in non-conference games but has yet to translate that success into meaningful wins when it matters most in the league standings.
With the loss, Kentucky remains winless in SEC play for the 2025 season and faces mounting questions about when they will get their first SEC win this 2025 season with a grueling schedule ahead, including Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida
