Week 4 of the NFL regular season came to a close with 16 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs had his best game as a New England Patriot against the Carolina Panthers. The 11-year veteran caught six passes for 101 yards, marking his highest game in receiving yards since his return from an ACL injury and his first 100-yard game since 2023 as a member of the Buffalo Bills.
The Gaithersburg, Maryland, resident now has 37 100-yard games in his career.
“Quarterback finding
the open man, offensive line blocking really well, receivers getting open. I’m not by myself out there,” Diggs said to the media following the game. “I’m just trying to do my job, I’ve been kind of stressing that over the last couple of weeks. It was team football and good complementary football.”
The Patriots now sit at 2-2 after their 42-13 victory.
As the Patriots continue to gel in the Mike Vrabel era, look for Diggs and young quarterback Drake Maye to continue building chemistry. Next week on Sunday Night Football, Diggs will make his first return to Buffalo following his departure two seasons ago as the Patriots and Bills match up on Oct. 5.
