As this season has progressed, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande has quickly garnered interest from top clubs throughout Europe that will certainly be looking to make a move on him during the summer transfer window. The Ivorian winger has been a standout in a Leipzig team that has had an up and down season thus far under Ole Werner as they currently sit just within European places in the Bundesliga table and only just crashed out of the DFB-Pokal in the quarterfinals, having lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich.
So
far this season, Diomande has tallied eight goals and six assists from a total of twenty-three appearances across all competitions, having missed a handful of matches in the winter due to being with the Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco. Before the African Cup of Nations, the 19-year-old had a streak of six goals and two assists from six Bundesliga matches, coinciding with the time that a lot of clubs started to show heavy interest in him before the January transfer window, Bayern Munich included.
While Bayern held firm on their promise of a quiet winter transfer window, squad planning has been in full swing and it’s no secret that the German Rekordmeister have shown interest in Diomande. The player himself is well aware of this, but recently affirmed that he is only focused on his football with Leipzig for the time being.
“It’s always nice to hear something like that. But I haven’t spoken to anyone from Bayern. It’s not the right time for that. I’m happy here in Leipzig and want to remain fully focused,” the winger said in an interview with Bild (via @iMiaSanMia).
As things currently stand, Diomande’s contract with Die Roten Bullen runs through June 2030 and he does not have a release clause. Per Transfermarkt, he’s valuated at 45 million euros, so Leipzig will know that they can ask for a steeper fee is clubs come in with serious interest in the summer transfer window. There is also a mutual understanding between Leipzig and Diomande that he will likely leave at some point as he does not plan on staying at the club forever — there is no expectation of that. To date, Bayern, Liverpool and Real Madrid have shown the most interest, but things could certainly change between now and this summer.
