Kentucky Football has landed Florida transfer safety Jordan Castell after his visit to Lexington. Castell chose Kentucky over Ole Miss and LSU and will arrive with one year of eligibility remaining.
A former
4-star safety in the 2023 recruiting class, Castell was ranked 212th overall, 16th among safeties, and 45th in the state of Florida in his class. He held additional scholarship offers from Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas A&M, Penn State, Ole Miss, and LSU, among others.
Castell wasted little time making an impact in Gainesville, earning a starting role in Year 1 and being named an ESPN Freshman All-American, while also making the SEC All-Freshman team.
This past season, Castell racked up 54 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games. His experience and versatility make him a plug-and-play starter capable of anchoring the back end of Kentucky’s defense.
Castell also reunites with defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who was on staff at Florida when Castell began his college career. That familiarity could help accelerate his transition to Lexington.
Next fall, Castell is expected to line up alongside Ty Bryant, giving Kentucky a formidable one-two punch at safety.
