Chelsea travel up to Merseyside this weekend for a Saturday lunchtime occasion at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, and unfortunately we will be doing so without the Captain, who was confirmed to have undergone knee surgery and will be out until at least Christmas.
Despite James’s absence, our injury list is actually quite short at the moment — certainly compared to our usual state — with only Jamie Gittens and Emmanuel Emegha confirmed to be out of action as well. Gittens was injured on international
duty with England U21 while the perpetually injured Emegha picked up another random “something” in yesterday’s training.
Everyone else is available, which is great news following our best game under Xabi Alonso yet, last weekend’s 5-1 win over AFC Bournemouth. That game featured the return on Moisés Caicedo and the home debut of Jordan Henderson, with the pair forming the most cohesive midfield we’ve seen yet this season. Do you change from that winning lineup?
Choose wisely.
