After protests from the Bayern Munich fans against the appointment of Jerome Boateng, coach Vincent Kompany was asked to respond on the matter.
After the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Kompany addressed (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) whether Boateng’s potential internship stands cancelled after protests by the club’s fans. “Nice try. Let’s first talk about the game. Only the sporting side is important today,” said Kompany choosing to defer the controversial topic for later.
Previously, Max Eberl
gave a pragmatic answer saying the club was just allowing Boa to view a few games and nothing was concrete. The Bavarian fans were against the appointment of Boa due to a history of domestic violence allegations.
After the match, both parties — Bayern Munch and Boateng — issued statements saying that there would be no partnership between the two:
Bayern Munich statement
In a constructive exchange between FC Bayern and Jérôme Boateng this week, it was decided that Jérôme Boateng will not be visiting FC Bayern to observe training. Jérôme feels very connected to FC Bayern and does not want FC Bayern to suffer damage as a result of the current controversial discussion surrounding him.
Jerome Boateng statement
‘Dear FC Bayern, dear Vincent, after the recent discussions about my person, I have come to the decision to focus on my subjects – the A license, RYZR, and Arena2. That’s currently my focus, and your full focus should solely be on the pitch – and the goal of continuing this impressive streak of 13 consecutive wins.
I’m very grateful to the club’s management and to you, dear Vincent, for the trust and the opportunity to be a part of it. I wholeheartedly wish you that you achieve your big goals by the end of the season. I also want to sincerely thank the many fans for the numerous messages and their support.
Your Boa’
Bayern Munich traveled to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a Bundesliga tilt featuring the league first-place and last-place teams.
The game went as expected — especially after Gladbach picked up an early red card, which completely shifted the momentum into Bayern Munich’s favor.
It was a daunting task to ask Gladbach to hold strong for over 70 minutes and eventually Die Fohlen just broke down. Ultimately, Bayern Munich walked away with a 3-0 victory over Gladbach.
