The Guardians have lost another depressing game to the White Sox, 7-3.
It was fun until it wasn’t. Tristan Peters put up a legendary 18-pitch at-bat on Gavin Williams in the 6th and then Tim Herrin walked to the mound with a can of gasoline and Daniel Espino made a mistake pitch. The Guardians offense was MIA as usual. Nathaniel Lowe has been awful. Save us, Ralphy. Get well soon.
There were some fun moments from Williams who got his way out of a bases-loaded jam. But not finding a way to put Peters
away was killer tonight. Not that it would have mattered with the Guardians scoring one run anyway before David Fry’s garbage-time two-run homer in the ninth which I am not counting in my personal record-book.
Angel Martinez left the game with an injury. I will hate it if the team just benches him and tries to let him rest up. I get doing that for DeLauter but there isn’t time for that right now. Promote Cooper Ingle. If Ralphy is healthy (probably not) swap him for Petey Halpin or Daniel Schneemann post haste. I am also not opposed to bringing Manzardo back for one of them and bench Lowe. There is still a potential playoff berth on the line, folks. It’s not time to go gently into that good night. But, tonight was enough to make you long for the sweet surrender of baseball oblivion.
