Defensive tackle TeRah Edwards is next up in our 90-in-90 series!
Let’s dive in!
The Basics
Height: 6’2
Weight: 305 pounds
College: Northwestern/Illinois
Experience: 1
Edwards was a three-star prospect and the 28th-ranked player in the state of Ohio as a senior. He was a standout for Groveport Madison High School, earning First-Team All-OCC, All-District, All-MEtro, and All-Ohio honors. His senior season, Edwards posted 53 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. Off the field, Edwards lettered in wrestling.
After receiving a number of Division I offers, Edwards chose to stay somewhat close to home by attending Northwestern in Chicago. He chose the Wildcats over the likes of Penn State, Missouri, Michigan State, and Michigan.
Unfortunately Edwards never quite found much playing time during his first two seasons of college ball. He totaled just two tackles from 2020-2021 and ultimately chose to transfer to the other side of NU’s biggest rivalry, The University of Illinois.
In his first season with the Fighting Illini (2023), Edwards notched 14 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and his first career sack. In 2024, he took a step back with 13 tackles, and half a tackle for loss and sack, apiece.
Edwards’ final campaign in Champagne was the best of his college career by far. He record career highs across the board with 38 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
After going undrafted that year, Edwards signed with the Chargers as a UDFA.
As a rookie, Edwars played in all four preseason games for the Chargers, posting two tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, one pass breakup, and an interception. Following the season, Edwards signed a reserve/futures deal to remain in LA.
The Good
Edwards made the most of his opportunities during the 2025 preseason, notching a tackle for loss, sack, pass breakup, and interception in the team’s four exhibition games.
The Bad
Edwards tested fairly poorly during the predraft process with low marks in speed and jumps.
At his size and weight, combined with his measurables, Edwards’ only path to becoming a usable player in the pros is to prove he can be an immovable object that can help soalk up double-teams as he’s not clocked to be a pass rusher at this level.
2026 Outlook
Edwards faces a very steep path to a roster spot and still a fairly difficult task to land on the practice squad again, especially after the team added both veteran Dalvin Tomlinson in free agency and Nick Barrett in the draft. That’s not even mentioning the other two 2026 UDFAs the team signed this year following the draft.
