The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled to figure out how to protect Joe Burrow since drafting their franchise quarterback in 2020.
Each year, it feels like the front office does not do enough to truly give Burrow stellar protection in front of him.
The Bengals most recently brought in veteran Lucas Patrick and drafted Dylan Fairchild and Jalen Rivers, hoping to bring in some guys that can help with that issue.
Fast-forward to week two of the preseason, and it seems Patrick was benched for Rivers after
a start against the Commanders.
Paul Dehner confirmed there was no injury to Patrick announced, which could lead us to assume that he was benched for rookie Jalen Rivers.
With Dalton Risner coming to town for a visit tomorrow, it is fair to wonder if Patrick will even make the week one roster at this point. Risner would very likely take the starting job, so would Patrick even be worth a backup spot over guys like young players like Rivers, Seth McLaughlin, and Matt Lee?
Regardless, Bengals fans are simply desperate to see Burrow have good protection in front of him going into a new year.
