The Los Angeles Rams have never been shy about making aggressive moves when general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay believe a championship window is open. In 2026, that philosophy has already been on full display. The Rams acquired cornerback Trent McDuffie from Kansas City and later made an enormous splash by trading Jared Verse and multiple future draft picks for Myles Garrett.
So, the obvious question is: Who could be the Rams’ next blockbuster trade target?
There are five names worth
considering.
Justin Jefferson — WR, Vikings
Jefferson would be the dream offensive addition. Imagine pairing one of the NFL’s best route runners and playmakers with Matthew Stafford and an offense already capable of producing explosive plays.
The problem is obvious: Minnesota would have little reason to move him. It would likely require a sizable package of draft capital and perhaps a young player. Still, Snead has demonstrated that he is willing to pay a premium for elite talent.
Joe Alt — OT, Chargers
The Rams could look toward the offensive line in upcoming years as they have done before in 2019 (Austin Corbett trade) and 2023 (Kevin Dotson). Joe Alt would represent a massive investment in protecting Stafford while potentially giving the franchise a long-term answer at tackle.
Unlike trading for an aging veteran, acquiring Alt would give Los Angeles an established young player who could remain a foundational piece well beyond Stafford’s current window.
A trade for Alt would likely happen in 2027 or 2028.
Joey Porter Jr — CB, Steelers
The Rams gave their secondary a makeover this offseason when they traded for Trent McDuffie and signed Jaylen Watson. But what if one of them gets hurt in the middle of the 2026 season. The Rams do not want to waste the roster they have in 2026 and will do all things necessary to win another Lombardi.
Joey Porter Jr enters the last year of his contract and Pittsburgh is $10 million OVER the cap in 2027. Pittsburgh also doesn’t have a quarterback solution beyond this year.
Brian Thomas Jr — WR, Jaguars
BTJ was floated in trade rumors this offseason after a disappointing sophomore campaign. If the Jaguars regress in 2026 or if he falls on the depth chart, the Jaguars could act sooner than later via trade.
The Rams could see Brian Thomas Jr as a succession plan to Davante Adams after 2026.
