The hockey team up in northern Colorado has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026-27 season. Through 10 games of play in a busy month of October, the Colorado Eagles finished with a record of 6-3-1, which currently places them at the top of the AHL’s Pacific division. There are some new and familiar faces who have helped propel the squad thus far worth highlighting.
First Star – G Ilya Nabokov – 4-2-0, 2.16 GAA, .931 sv%, 1 SO
The new netminder to Colorado will probably feature quite frequently in these monthly three stars. Expectations were high for arguably the top
prospect the Avalanche system at any position and Ilya Nabokov has lived up to the hype in the early going. He opened his Eagles career with a 32-save shutout and has won four of his six starts with a 2.16 goals against average and .931 save percentage, which places him in a tied lead for wins in the AHL. The Russian will have to look over his shoulder in the coming months, though, as fellow Eagles netminder Trent Miner is finally healthy after an offseason setback and pitched a 27-save shutout in the Eagles’ final game of the month.
Second Star – RW Gavin Brindley – 8GP: 2G, 7A, 9P
Despite missing two games when he was called up to the Avalanche, Gavin Brindley still finished the month as the Eagles’ overall points leader with nine. He’s been consistently productive as well even if only scoring two goals himself. It remains to be seen what plan the Avalanche have for him but it’s been a good month of October for the 22-year-old.
Third Star – LW Adam Beckman – 10 GP: 5G, 1A, 6P
We featured the 25-year-old earlier in the month after his strong start as a new veteran with the Eagles. Adam Beckman concluded the month with the team lead in goals at five and continues to lead the team in a top six role. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Beckman called up for an opportunity with the Avalanche especially as a big body who could play any position in the bottom six.
