Today, we have a thin slate of MLB games following an action-packed Wednesday night, where the Blue Jays eliminated the Yankees in Game 4, while the Cubs and Phillies stayed alive in must-win games. The
Tigers also evened things with the Mariners, sending the series to a winner-take-all Game 5 tomorrow. While those two teams have the day off, the NL side of the bracket will be active with two teams looking to extend their season.
Phillies (Christopher Sanchez, 2.50 ERA) @ Dodgers (Tyler Glasnow, 3.19 ERA)
After the Dodgers took both of the first two games in Philadelphia, the Phillies were able to keep their season alive yesterday with a big 8-2 win in LA. Sanchez was easily the best Phillies starter this season, with his 2.50 leading any Phillies starter with more than 20 innings pitched on the year. Tyler Glasnow has been great, but has struggled in the postseason with a 5.51 ERA over his 11 appearances. The Phillies’ offense will need to stay alive to send the series to a winner-take-all Game 5.
Brewers (Freddy Peralta, 2.70 ERA) @ Cubs (Matthew Boyd, 3.21 ERA)
Similar to the game before, the Cubs will fight to stay alive tonight to send this game to Game 5. After an incredible game yesterday, where Chicago was able to sneak out a 4-3 victory, the Cubs will need to do it again tonight. Boyd pitched for the Cubs on Saturday, but got shelled for 4 hits and six total runs in the first inning. Peralta, on the other hand went 5.2 innings, only giving up two runs, both on solo shots. The Cubs will need a bounce-back from Boyd tonight, and we should be in for a great game.
