The Miz is a former WWE champion and WrestleMania eventer, and has many passionate fans who don’t like it when I refer to him as a low carder. But that’s exactly what he has been for a long time based on how WWE books him in their weekly programming.
That brings me to last week’s episode of WWE Main Event on Rumble, where Kit Wilson and The Miz scored a tag team win over Fraxiom. According to the data at CageMatch, it was The Miz’s first win since an August 2025 episode of SmackDown when Melo Don’t
Miz defeated the Motor City Machine Guns. The A-Lister finally ended his 40+ match losing streak that lasted over one full year.
The Miz commented on his losing streak during an interview this week on Z100 New York. Miz noted that he didn’t even score the pin for his team.
“I think it’s the longest losing streak that anyone in WWE history has ever been a part of. Without even knowing, right? I didn’t keep track of it until someone online was like, hey, does anyone know that The Miz hasn’t won a match in like 2 years? And I was like, wait a second, is that real? Is that true?
‘Cause I’m going through it every every week, right? Like, I have a match, and then it skips my mind. Have a match, skips my mind. You’re only as good as your last match. So I’m always thinking about the last match. I’m not thinking about the entire year, how I’ve been doing.
…I didn’t even pin the guy, by the way. My tag team partner [did], so I won by not even pinning a guy.”
CageMatch indicates that the last time Miz won a singles match was against JD McDonagh on a February 2024 episode of Raw. That was 100 matches ago. The former WWE champion says he needs to break that 2+ year losing streak next.
“Yeah, I still need a solo win. I still need to pin a guy. But yeah, so I guess that’s still going if you’re really keeping track.”
The A-Lister wrapped up this topic by saying these losing streaks aren’t an accomplishment to hang his hat on. He still wants to be the number one guy in WWE, but it’s also important to entertain the fans even in defeat.
“No one wants a streak of losing, okay? No one wants a streak of losing. Everybody wants to win all the time. I’m a person that likes to win. I’m competitive. I want to be the top superstar. So how do I get there? I just keep on improving each and every time I go out there, no matter what.
Whether I’m losing, I’m trying to put forth the best possible match, the best possible reaction from a crowd. So, if it involves me losing, sure. Fine. Why not? Do I want to lose? No.”
Do you think there is an opportunity here for WWE to focus more on The Miz’s singles losing streak in kayfabe and get fans invested in the story for a major pop when he finally breaks it? Is there a real chance that the 46-year-old star will never win a singles match in WWE again? Should I downgrade his status from “low carder” to “jobber” until he breaks this losing streak?
