Day 1 on the NFL’s legal tampering period ended with a flurry of rumors about the Steelers talking to other teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys, about potentially trading middle linebacker Patrick Queen.
However, NFL Network’s Jane Slater posted Tuesday that the Cowboys’ potential trade for Patrick Queen “may have hit a snag.”
Slater added that she had been told Queen probably wasn’t going to Dallas.
However, on Monday, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris reported that the Cowboys were one of several teams — including the Philadelphia Eagles — who had reached out about Queen. He noted the Steelers were likely looking for a mid-round pick in return.
That means that even if the Cowboys are out of the running, it doesn’t rule out a trade to a different franchise.
Queen has played a large role on the Steelers defense over his last two seasons with the team, logging 120-plus tackles and 1,000-plus defensive snaps in both years. He’s still 26 years old.
