It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup.
Patrick Murray of ESPN+ compiled the list of what he calls the top Group of 6 newcomer classes, made up of high school recruits and transfers. The list features five Mountain West/PAC12 schools:
It’s no surprise that Boise State is at the top of the list for Group of 6 schools, and UNLV, Colorado State, and San Diego State’s strong classes were documented here in December. Texas State sticks out for those who want to keep tabs on a future PAC member.
In other news, offers were exploding this past week. There were literally too many to count, as I had to stop mid-week in order to work on other projects. Apologies for that, but time is limited during recruiting breakdown season. However, it was just a me thing. High school coaches are noticing, too. One coach told me, “Recruiting has moved up again. Before, they would hold off on offering in the spring and come two times in the spring, but now it’s usually just once.”
And earlier offers won’t be the only change, if this ends up holding true.
“I think we’ll see earlier spring commitments as opposed to summer or in-season to align with the single portal window.”
The recruiting timeline always seems to be moving earlier, and this could be the latest example of that. Something to keep an eye on for sure.
As for the cover photo, it goes to Hawaii for having the only non-transfer commit of the week, picking up a nice wide receiver.

Recruiting Calendar:
Starting today and extending through the rest of January, we are in a contact period (except for a dead period of Jan 12-14). This is the most open of the recruiting periods. All communication and contact is allowed, on or off campus.
Next College Student Athlete defines it as:
The NCAA Contact Period is exactly what it sounds like—all communication between athletes and coaches is fair game. Coaches can email, text, call, direct message, and generally contact athletes and their parents through any NCAA-approved method. In-person contact can occur on the college campus, as well as at tournaments, at the recruit’s school, and home. In other words, the communication floodgates are open, so take advantage of this opportunity to get unlimited access to talk to coaches.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Since the Air Force Academy regularly has by far the most commits among Mountain West recruiting classes, it’s fun to track them over the course of the year.
