Some places do power rankings. Here at Cageside, we do a stock report.
In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite
direction. After a busy week that included Logan Paul turning on CM Punk, LA Knight getting a mystery opponent in the John Cena tournament, and WWE suspending Drew McIntyre, a lot of fortunes were changed.
With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week:
Stock Down #3: Finn Balor & JD McDonagh
Finn Balor & JD McDonagh got their rematch against World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Dragon Lee on this week’s Raw, and they once again went down in defeat. Back-to-back losses in the span of a few weeks typically mean the champs are ready to move on to new challengers.
Stock Down #2: Rey Fenix
One of the worst ways to book a babyface is for that wrestler to pick a fight with a heel but then lose it. That’s essentially what happened to Fenix on SmackDown when he lost against Talla Tonga this week after issuing the challenge last week. Rey put up more of a fight than expected, so perhaps that will at least keep some optimism alive for his future booking.
Stock Down #1: Giulia
After a very forgettable run with the women’s US title, Giulia dropped the belt to Chelsea Green on SmackDown in a match that only lasted 97 seconds. It was a shocking way to see her title reign come to an end. Giulia reacted afterwards by saying that she’s angry at herself.
Giulia should instead direct her anger at WWE booking, which ruined her US title reign by never giving her good enough creative to defend the gold on a PLE. It seemed like there was still plenty of time to turn things around, until WWE killed her title reign dead in less than two minutes. WWE never should have put the championship on her in the first place if this is what they had planned for her title reign.
Now let’s see whose stock increased the most this week.
Stock Up #3: Rey & Dominik Mysterio
Rey Mysterio returned to Raw this week to announce that he’s medically cleared. Rey went back and forth on the mic with that little shithead son of his, Dominik, as Survivor Series is coming up later this month in their hometown of San Diego. The Rey vs. Dom program is immediately hot again just from this one promo segment, and it may be heavily featured on the PLE.
Stock Up #2: Lash Legend
NXT’s Lash Legend was officially called up to the SmackDown roster last night to form a new team with Nia Jax, and they might already be on the verge of challenging for the WWE women’s tag team championship. There is also a story going around about WWE planning for Legend to be part of the upcoming women’s War Games match, and that’s definitely possible now that she’s picking a fight with Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss.
Stock Up #1: Chelsea Green
Chelsea Green is now a double champion after quickly defeating Giulia to become the new women’s United States champion. She already had quite a bit of momentum given how popular her act is with Ethan Page as the AAA Mixed World Tag Team Champions. This US title win is a sign that WWE is ready to double down on that and give her an even bigger spotlight back on SmackDown.
There you have it, Cagesiders. Whose stock do you think changed the most this week?
