Good morning, baseball fans!
We’ve got a full afternoon and evening of playoff baseball today, as the American League and National League Division Series continue (for the most part).
American League
First up, the visiting Seattle Mariners continue their series against the Detroit Tigers. This is being written before Tuesday’s games have been played, but this game will happen regardless, as the series is tied going into that one. The Mariners have not yet announced a starting pitcher, but right-hander
Casey Mize will get the start for the Tigers. This game will start at 12:08 p.m. PT and air on Fox Sports 1.
Once again, this is being written before Tuesday’s games, so it’s as yet unknown whether the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees will even have a Game 4, as Toronto will enter Tuesday’s game with a 2-0 lead. But if it does go on, the visiting Blue Jays do not currently have a pitcher listed, but right-hander Cam Schlittler is scheduled to start for the Yankees. If this game ends up being necessary, it will start after the previous game (estimated 4:08 p.m. PT) and also air on Fox Sports 1.
National League
The Milwaukee Brewers currently have a 2-0 series lead against the Chicago Cubs as the series shifts to Wrigley Field for Game 3. Right-hander Quinn Priester is expected to get the start for the Brewers, while Jameson Taillon will get the start for the Cubs. The game will start at 2:08 p.m. PT, and air on TBS.
After that, the Philadelphia Phillies will head west to play their own Game 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers, unfortunately, have a 2-0 series lead as well, as the series shifts to Dodger Stadium. Good luck, Phillies. We’re all rooting for you. Right-hander Aaron Nola is expected to get the start for the Phillies, while right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto is expected to start for the Dodgers. This one will start after the previous game (estimated 6:08 p.m. PT) and also air on TBS
My rooting interests from yesterday remain the same, as in I still want to see the Mariners and Blue Jays take their series (and hopefully the Blue Jays already have). As to the National League, it’s tough. Obviously I want the Phillies to beat the Dodgers. But I cannot, in good conscience, root for the Cubs. My personal conspiracy theory of choice is that everything wrong in the world can be attributed to the Cubs winning the World Series in 2016, and we cannot let that happen again. So go Brewers, I guess.
Who are you rooting for?
