Muhammad vs. Garry took place Nov. 22 at the Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Belal Muhammad (24-5, 1 no-contest) and Ian Machado Garry (17-1) squared off in the co-main event clash. The fight aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

Round 1
Right before Bruce Buffer’s introductions, Machado Garry went over to Muhammad’s entire team and dabbed them up.
Rick Mitchell is the referee. And we’re off…
Garry throws a head kick early, and lands a good left hand. Muhammad coming in throwing hard and we have our first eye poke 30 seconds in from Machado Garry, and it was a nasty one. Belal has a cut opened up below the left eye, but the poke was in the right. Hard warning from Mitchell, but no point, which is ridiculous.
Back to it and Garry lands a good straight left. Muhammad with a short left hook, good front kick to the chest from Garry. Good counter right from Muhammad. Leg kick from Garry, and another, very nasty.
Another kick right to the knee from Garry. Just short of the halfway mark. Another kick to the knee from Garry, those are starting to add up. Muhammad hasn’t even thought about grappling yet, as he is dropped by a leg kick from Garry. It’s all Garry so far on the feet, and Muhammad finally initiates a grappling exchange against the fence. Muhammad landing some short shots, and Garry gets separation. Good exchange from the fighters, Muhammad lands a right, Garry with a nice combination with a leg kick. Final 45 seconds and another leg kick from Garry. Muhammad shoots again, but Garry defends. They battle against the fence, Garry separates, grazes him with a high kick, and that’s the round.

Round 2
Muhammad is doing OK on the feet, but his leg is getting wrecked. Let’s see if he can make an adjustment. Right to the center they go and Garry lands a leg kick. Good exchange, Garry gets the better of it. Nice counter right from Muhammad. Multiple kicks from Garry, Muhammad can’t quite close the distance on a combination.
Good jab from Muhammad, but Garry cracks him clean with a right hand. Another kick to the knee from Garry, and another. Garry loses footing for a moment, and Muhammad charges to get a clinch against the fence, and again, Garry defends and separates. Another hard kick to the knee from Garry that thumped through the whole arena. Muhammad gets a single and clinches. Mitchell warns Muhammad multiple times about grabbing the top of the fence. Two minutes to go.
Garry separates and they meet back in the center. Muhammad another single leg, but Garry reverses and gets the back. Muhammad escapes. Oh, boy. Another eye poke from Garry. This should be a point. On replay, it may not have been a poke, but it’s close. Shouldn’t be a point on second look.
Back for the final minute of the round. Muhammad needs something big here to get some momentum. He shoots in again, Gerry defends and Muhammad lands a right at the horn. Close round.

Round 3
This could go either way heading into the third. Muhammad’s corner told him he’s down two rounds, and that’s how I have it. Muhammad is certainly fighting that way as he’s very aggressive here. Another nasty leg kick from Garry. Big counter right from Garry, may be the best shot of the fight. Spinning back fist, front kick, then leg kick from Garry. Nasty!
Muhammad goes for the clinch, Garry easily defends. Muhammad lands a right, Garry answers. Pair of jabs from Garry, Muhammad shoots a double, Garry still on his feet.
Garry gets separation and lands another vicious kick to the knee. Muhammad ties him up, but nothing coming from it. Tries to get low on a double against the fence, but he’s not doing much damage. Garry reverses, throws a jumping knee, falls over, Muhammad charges in, but Garry back up.
Muhammad needs a big moment and badly. Good left hand from Muhammad. Garry counters and now ties Muhammad up, and lands a beautfiul elbow. Final 20 seconds.
Garry shoots, throws a high kick, they tie up, and that’s it. Garry should win, but the judges make the final call.
