Pretty much anyone who is at least mildly plugged into baseball is aware that the Winter Meetings begin tomorrow. So that means the offseason activity will pick up again, right? Right? It’s not going to continue
to be crickets? I think we’ll get some movement, even if the activity is not as scintillating as last year’s Juan Soto Sweepstakes.
We have two planned articles today on the site. First, Josh will try to determine how the Yankees may walk the financial tightrope if it turns out to be a quiet offseason due to Hal Steinbrenner tightening the wallet. Later, Nick will take the opportunity of a potential (again, emphasis: potential) Don Mattingly induction to the Hall of Fame by looking back on Phil Rizzuto’s own wayward road to Cooperstown, which didn’t happen until a Veterans Committee put the Scooter in, 38 years after his career ended.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Do you think Kyle Schwarber returns to the Phillies or does he land somewhere new?
2. Any thought on the United States men’s national team’s draw for the 2026 World Cup?
