The upcoming Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight card on May 16 has taken a sizeable hit with just one week to go.
Next weekend will feature an anticipated showdown between Rousey and Carano, who will both be making their long-awaited returns to mixed martial arts (MMA) for a monumental showdown on Netflix. The women’s superfight was original discussed with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials, but the sides were unable to come to an agreement as it pertains to finances. That cleared a path
for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MPV) to step in and partner with Netflix to host the fight.
On Saturday, it was revealed that the Rousey vs. Carano fight card has taken its first hit. According to MMA Junkie’s Nolan King, former UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev has been removed from his main card matchup with former ONE Championship star Adriano Moraes. Apparently Mokaev was unable to secure his U.S. visa and will be unable to make the trip to the Intuit Dome next weekend in Los Angeles, California. Instead, Mokaev will be replaced by undefeated South African prospect Phumi Nkuta.

Luckily, the main course for next weekend’s massive card on Netflix has been untouched for now. This includes the headlining act between Rousey and Carano, as well as a heavyweight clash between former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins and a welterweight clash involving UFC vets Nate Diaz and Mike Perry.
