Middleweight titleholders Janibek Alimkhanuly (IBF, WBO) and Erisland Lara (WBA) are officially set to unify their belts on December 6 when they appear on the undercard of Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz vs Lamont Roach in San Antonio, Texas as part of PBC’s planned PPV on Prime Video.
Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs) has been out of action since he stopped Anauel Ngamissengue in five rounds back in April, while Lara (31-3-3, 19 KOs) hasn’t fought in a full year now since stopping Danny Garcia in nine round last September.
Needless to say Alimkhanuly, 32, has been in search of an opponent with a name and he’ll at least have that going for him when he takes on the 42 year old Lara this winter. The fighter who comes out on top in this outing will be one belt shy of going fully undisputed in the weight class, with Carlos Adames being the only other major titleholder in the weight class.
