It’s a good thing that the Rams appear to have everything set for an official acquisition and extension for Trent McDuffie on Wednesday because the Raiders dropped a bombshell announcement on Tuesday: The Baltimore Ravens have “backed out” of their agreement to trade two first round picks for Maxx Crosby.
The news has left the NFL world more
stunned than last week’s announcement that the Ravens had traded for Crosby. Nothing is official until it is official.
The Ravens had reportedly agreed to trade two first round picks for Crosby, contingent on him passing a physical. Whether or not this has played a part in Baltimore’s decision to back out of the trade is not known at this time but it just emphasizes that you can’t really be sure of a trade until the trade is official. Clearly this sets in stone that Crosby, once a Raven, was never a Raven.
Quoth the Raven nevermore and all that…
McDuffie is set to be a Los Angeles Ram and has a new $124 million contract. No snags should happen. But there’s always a chance while there’s a chance.
