The interview requests keep pouring in for the Steelers’ search for a new head coach.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Diana Russini, the Steelers have requested an interview with Dolphins defensive
coordinator Anthony Weaver. Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team has also requested an interview with Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.
It’s the third and fourth Steelers interview requests to be announced today, with Pittsburgh also reportedly requesting interviews with defensive coordinator Chris Shula and passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase of the Los Angeles Rams.
Weaver’s Dolphins defense finished 24th in points per game, 22nd in yards per game, and 24th in EPA per play in 2025. However, he’s widely considered one of the brightest schematic minds in the NFL when it comes to his defensive designs.
Weaver’s time in the NFL started in the AFC North. He was a second-round pick by the Ravens in 2002 who played four seasons for Baltimore as a defensive end. He’s 45 years old.
