Duke got a commitment Thursday from 7-1 Canadian Maxime
Meyer. The 7-1 Meyer is currently playing for IMG Academy and is generally seen as a four-star prospect.
He fits with Scheyer’s preference for taller players. Like a lot of young seven footers, he’s growing into his body, but he sounds quite promising. He has a 7-3 wingspan and a 9-5 standing reach. He’s said to be fairly agile too.
Currently Meyer weighs just 215 but that will change as he matures (he’s still 17). He’s a decent shot blocker and while he’s a bit turnover prone currently that, too, can get better with more experience.
He might be a guy who is on a development track, but even if he spends a year as an understudy to someone else, it seems clear that he has the potential to develop into a pretty good player.
