(Arizona Sports) Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll to return to lineup Friday following MRI
Gambadoro added that nothing concerning was found on Carroll’s MRI, which he underwent Thursday after dealing with lower back discomfort.
The three-time All-Star was scratched from the Diamondbacks’ game against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday and did not play in the series finale Wednesday. Carroll
made just two plate appearances as a pinch hitter in the series opener against the Royals Monday.
(SI.com) MLB Experts Overwhelmingly Agree on Wild-Card Winner Between Padres, Diamondbacks
San Diego is in a tight race for the final wild-card spot against their division rival, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It’s a neck-and-neck battle, and although that is the case, a majority of ESPN’s MLB experts picked the Padres to secure the final NL wild-card spot.
Of the 15 ESPN MLB experts polled, 12 of them chose the Padres to clinch the NL’s sixth seed over the Diamondbacks.

The Tampa Bay Rays were prevented from possibly becoming the first team to clinch a playoff berth when Martín Pérez threw seven scoreless innings and Austin Riley’s run-scoring single in the eighth inning gave Atlanta its first lead of the series in the Braves’ 3-1 win Thursday.
Seeking its first division title since 2021, Tampa Bay (87-59) entered with a four-game AL East lead and would have clinched no worse than a wild card with a victory and a loss by Texas to Seattle or the Chicago White Sox to Pittsburgh.

We’re just more than two weeks away from finalizing the Major League Baseball playoff field for the 2026 season, but we’re starting to get a pretty good idea. Even though no berths have been formally clinched yet, we’re smart enough to see the NL Central and NL West, for example, and do the math.

It’s a story that has always stuck with me for the scope that his story takes, the foresight he had, the bravery he showed in the moment, and just how many lives he single handedly saved on that horrible day.
