Any thought of the Seattle Seahawks bringing back Noah Igbinoghene as even a practice squad cornerback can be put on the shelf.
The Cleveland Browns have signed Igbinoghene directly to the active roster, as part of a slew of roster transactions they made on Tuesday. Igbinoghene was released as a vested veteran by the Seahawks during final roster cuts and was notably not on the initial practice squad.
It seemed like Igbinoghene was in good position to make the active roster after getting a healthy serving
of second- and first-team snaps in training camp, along with predominantly second-team snaps in preseason. His first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys saw him work out of the slot before he was switched the the boundary for the last two games versus the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs.
For the time being, it looks as if Nehemiah Pritchett is Seattle’s third cornerback on the depth chart, with Trevon Diggs waiting in the wings on the practice squad. Seattle also traded for rookie corner Avery Smith from the Los Angeles Chargers.
We’re still unsure as to what future lies ahead for safety D’Anthony Bell, who was part of Seattle’s roster for most of last season before the Carolina Panthers claimed him off waivers. Bell was brought back as a free agent (with a Super Bowl ring awarded) and not just cut, but similarly not re-signed to the practice squad.
