UFC Rio went down last night (Sat., Oct. 11, 2025) inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which saw Charles Oliveira submit Mateusz Gamrot with a rear-naked choke in the very first-round (see it again here). In the co-main event of the evening, Deiveson Figueiredo defeated Montel Jackson via razor-thin split-decision.

Biggest Winner: Charles Oliveira
Oliveira got back on track with a big win over Gamrot, his first victory in a year. There is no telling if he will gain a lot of traction in the
rankings where he currently sits at No. 3, with only Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan ahead of him. Still, the win keeps him in a good spot for a possible title fight, but it will likely take one more win before he gets into serious consideration. Nevertheless, Oliveira’s win reminds everyone that despite his up-and-down run in the last few years he is still a huge threat to anyone standing in front of him.

Runner (s) Up: Joel Alvarez and Deiveson Figueiredo
After getting the call up to face Vicente Luque on short notice, Alvarez made the most of his opportunity by defeating the longtime veteran via unanimous decision, making it four straight wins for “El Fenomeno.” It’s a big victory for the Spanish-born combatant, who is inching closer to a Top 15 ranking. He is now 8-1 in his last fights and improves to 10-2 overall under the UFC banner. As for Figueiredo, he was able to snap his two-fight losing streak and avoid losing three in a row for the first time in his career by securing a razor-thin split decision win over Montel Jackson. While it wasn’t a dominant performance, a win is a win and “Daico” needed that pretty badly.

Biggest Loser: Ricardo Ramos
Coming into his fight against Kaan Ofli, Ramos was hoping to get back on track after suffering a loss to Chepe Mariscal, which would have been his first win in over a year. Instead, things went further downhill for him after suffering a first-round submission loss, bringing him to 1-4 in his last five fights, which should make him nervous when the promotion starts making cuts to its bloated roster.
