The College Football Playoff committee released their third batch of top 25 rankings on Tuesday night . The Aggies stayed perfect at 10-0, but it was hardly a smooth ride last weekend as they needed the largest comeback in program history to beat South Carolina 31-30 at Kyle Field. But despite the rocky result, the Aggies stayed just where they have been the past two weeks, coming in at No. 3.
At this point, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that the Aggies will earn their first ever College Football Playoff berth, to the point that FanDuel Sportsbook doesn’t even list odds for whether or not they’ll make it. The The only thing in question is how high they’ll be, if they can earn a first round bye and where their game(s) will be played. It’s an enviable place to be, and an admittedly foreign one for A&M fans. Enjoy it, everyone. The odds for the Aggies are -10000 to make the Playoff Quarterfinals, -125 to make the Semifinals, +290 to make it to the National Championship and +750 to win the national championship.
The Aggies should have little problem getting to 11-0 as they host 1-10 FCS team Samford on Saturday in their home finale (11 a.m. on SEC Network+). They’ll then wrap up the regular season by traveling to Austin for the Lonestar Showdown against rival (and now No. 17) Texas at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28. That game will air on ABC.
