The Buffalo Bills are reportedly set to sign a new backup quarterback, adding veteran Kyle Allen. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that it’s a two-year deal for $4.1 million, potentially worth up to $6.1 million. It’s a move that reunites Josh Allen with his good friend in Kyle Allen.
Allen, who turned 30 years old on Sunday,
spent last season with the Detroit Lions. He threw two passes, both of which fell incomplete. He played for the Bills during the 2023 season, appearing in seven games. He did not attempt a pass in any of those contests. He did, however, attempt 13 rushes, kneeling each time for a total of -13 yards.
Allen has spent eight seasons in the NFL, appearing in 34 total games. He’s completed 62.5% of his passes for 4,753 yards, 26 touchdown passes, and 21 interceptions. Most of that production came during the 2019 season as a member of the Carolina Panthers.
Earlier on Monday, the Bills lost backup Mitchell Trubisky to the Tennessee Titans, where he signed a two-year contract. Trubisky will reunite with former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who now holds the same position in Tennessee.
Buffalo’s quarterback room now consists of Josh Allen, Kyle Allen, and Shane Buechele.
