ESPN: Saturday’s win over the Orioles mostly went well, but one scary moment came when Jazz Chisholm Jr. was hit by a pitch on his forearm. The good news is that both X-rays and CT scans came back negative,
despite his obvious pain. It’d have been brutal to lose the 30/30 second baseman right on the eve of the playoffs, so thankfully that did not come to pass.
NorthJersey.com | Pete Caldera: The Yankees did their part in the AL East race on Saturday, beating the Orioles. However, other results didn’t go their way, leaving them in the same spot for Sunday’s regular season final: they need to win and need the Blue Jays to lose. Otherwise, they’ll be Wild Card Series bound on Tuesday.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: In Saturday’s win, Aaron Judge put forth yet another argument in his AL MVP case. The Yankee captain got the Yankees on the board in the must-win game with a home run, and also came up with a game-breaking two-RBI hit late on. The debate against Cal Raleigh will be never-ending — at least on the internet — but Judge himself is making quite the case.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Speaking of making cases, Cam Schlittler made a pretty good one for making potential playoff starts on Saturday. Aaron Boone himself said after the game that he would absolutely trust Schlittler to take the mound in October. As it currently stands, he’d be lined up to take a potential Wild Card Series Game 3 on normal rest, though New York hasn’t announced anything.
MLB Trade Rumors | Mark Polishuk: Ahead of this year’s trade deadline, the Yankees and Mets reportedly discussed a trade that would’ve sent Trent Grisham to Queens and Brett Baty to the Bronx. While fascinating—especially between crosstown rivals who don’t trade much—it’s hard to imagine the 2025 Yankees without their surprising 34-homer center fielder.
